Did you ever wonder why your “excellently written” cover letter doesn’t win the hearts of your clients? Do you feel bad and think that something may be wrong? To write a winning cover letter, you must answer the job post directly. You should attract your client immediately and let them know that you are the perfect fit to help them solve their problem.
If you think that something is wrong with your cover letter, trust your instincts. Writing a winning cover letter for an online job is not similar to writing a cover letter in the corporate world. If you are a freelancer, you market your skills, not your education. Yes, you do not need to tell your client that you are a Master in this and that or that you are a lawyer or a doctor.
If the client is looking for a graphic artist, market yourself as a graphic artist. He doesn’t care (really) about your education. If he is looking for a writer, send him samples of your best articles and do not bother mentioning that you are a photographer if he did not mention about looking for some other skills like that.
To write a cover letter, you just go direct to the point and keep it simple. Today, I will be sharing two of my winning cover letters on Upwork.com. You will notice that they are not as “excellent” as you think but hey, I earned and am earning money because of these cover letters.
I hope I have helped you write your own cover letters and if you have more questions on how to write a cover letter, please reach me on the Learning Hub group.
